RoHS Compliance
The new RoHS and WEEE European Directives introduce new environmental responsibilities for electrical and electronics equipment manufactures. The RoHS (Restriction of use of certain Hazardous Substances) directive, part of the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive, is due to come into force on 1st July 2006.
The RoHS directive effectively bans the use of certain chemicals, these are defined as:
- Lead
- Cadmium
- Mercury
- Hexavalent Chromium
- Polybrominated Biphenyl (PBB) - flame retardant
- Polybrominated Diphenyl Ether (PBDE) - flame retardant (including Deca BDE)
